Also remember this is a parent participation event and you will get 
dinner.  The Court of Honor is all about recognizing and honoring the 
Scouts who have earned rank and merit badge advancements since the last 
Court of Honor six months ago.  Parents will be asked to come forward with 
their Scouts for the rank recognitions, so we need all the parents to 
attend.  This is also when Moms can wear their ribbons displaying their 
Scout's rank advancements.  All Moms get a ribbon when their Scout 
receives his New Scout rank, so if he is getting the New Scout rank 
tomorrow night then you will receive a ribbon.

It is also a good opportunity for the parents to meet some of the adult 
leaders and also a good opportunity to find an area where you can 
volunteer to assist the entire troop.

Thanks to everyone who volunteered to bring side items to go along with 
the grilled hot dogs.  It is most appreciated.  However, if you did not 
sign up online, I'm sure it would be fine if you still want to bring 
something to share.  As we like to say, more food is always better.

We are also starting the annual rechartering process for the Troop.  This 
is when we collect the dues and make sure we have everyone accounted for 
on the Troop roster that is still active.

Troop #85’s Fall Court of Honor is scheduled for Monday, October 13th. 
This is the ceremony where boys are awarded the merit badges and rankings 
earned in the last 6 months.  Mothers of scouts earning a new rank will 
also receive a pin.  In celebration, the Troop will be hosting a pot luck 
dinner prior to the ceremony.  We’ll be having hot dogs hot off the grill 
and we are asking that families supply the sides and desserts.  We're 
using VolunteerSpot to organize our upcoming activities.

Even if your scout has not earned a merit badge or moved to a new rank, 
please still plan to attend.  In addition to honoring the accomplishments 
of our scouts, the Troop Committee will be passing on useful information 
regarding annual dues, merit badge opportunities and the camping schedule 
for the rest of the year.  If you have questions about how you can be 
involved or anything else about the Troop, this is a great opportunity to 
ask them.
