Don,

We have several activity areas that will need staff. Right now, I know the games area and craft area are not fully staffed. Depending on what times the boys can work, they could also assist with general areas like helping setup and serve dinner.

The main activity day is Saturday, Oct 25 from 10am until 4pm. There will also be dinner at 6pm and a campfire Saturday night. Sunday will simply consist of breakfast and chapel.

We can use people that will be there Friday night for setting up activities as well.

Whatever timeframe your scouts would be able to work will be greatly appreciated. Just let me know what you guys would like to help with and we will have plenty to do within the time you are available.

Thanks,

Michael

I talked to the troop last night. There is some interest, but it would be either the 3rd or 4th weekend of camping in a row for some of the boys, so not everyone will be interested. I have asked for a count of interest and will pass on the names and numbers as I have them. Right now looked like about 3 boys.

What sorts of things might you have them do and times they would be there so I can pass that on?

Don

Don,

I have been meaning to reach out to you and Troop 85. Would the Troop be interested in helping the council at the upcoming FamJam on Oct 25-26? We are in need of volunteers to help with the different activities that the Cub Scouts and their families will be participating in. This is similar to the Mom and Me camp outs that we used to do at the district level.

Please let me know if Troop 85 would be able to help with this event.

Thanks,

Michael Hitz

Hello, All:

Next weekend, September 19-21, we will have a survival campout. What this means is that a boy who is a First class scout or above can choose to pair with a buddy, limit themselves to few items takes, and attempt to “survive” for the weekend.

Boys who are not first class or above, or do not want to work on their survival experience, can choose to stay in camp with the adults and work on advancement items. This is a great time for younger scouts to get many advancement skills completed. They need to pack for a normal campout and bring their books, a writing utensil, and anything they need to complete their targeted skills…compass, etc.

I will not be available to go on the campout this weekend, so I need adult support for the campout – leaders to camp, and someone to haul the trailer.

Please send $15 with your son for the campout, and $20 for yourself for the weekend and volunteer for a great campout. Let the leaders know you can attend and whether you can pull the trailer. If you get this after the meeting, no biggy…just email back.

Thanks,

Don Curry
