Wonderfully written Jason.
Remember 3 adults can do 30 hours each month, or 15 parents can do 6 hours each. The more we help the less on each person!

PS. I still need to show popcorn procedures to someone, so that they can take over next year. This is not hard at all!

Aside from funding, there are basically two things a Troop needs to be successful and thrive. The first requirement is we need Scouts who are interested and excited by what we do and want to become part of it. That one is rather obvious, so now you parents may be asking what the second requirement is - it should be obvious as well - we need parents to volunteer their time to allow our Troop to be successful and thrive. It seems only fair that parents - Moms and Dads - help out, otherwise you are leaving the responsibility of interacting with your Scouts to others. We have a lot of new Scouts, so it would be nice to see some more new parents get involved.

The parent volunteers get the enjoyment and satisfaction of seeing the Scouts learn, grow, advance, and mature as well. It has also been observed that most Scouts who reach the Eagle rank have at least one active and supportive parent backing them up.

We are also fortunate to have some adult Scouters who no longer have kids in the Troop - the kids went off to college, but the parents still help out - and we greatly appreciate it. We are Boy Scouts, not babysitters, so please don't just kick your Scouts out of the car as you drive through the Church parking lot. Come in, take a look at what we do, and thoughtfully consider where you could help out.

Please plan to attend and recognize and honor the achievements and advancements of the Scouts in the last 6 months. They have earned your recognition and they deserve your participation in all areas of Troop activities.

I'm certainly not the adult who volunteers the most of his/her time, but if more parents don't want to volunteer their time, then I suppose I should reconsider the amount of time I spend with your Scouts or working for them. And the other regular adult Scouters could do the same.

We have a lot of activities coming up next month and it’s time again to discuss recharter for our troop. All of us are quite busy with our “other lives”; therefore I am scheduling our next Committee meeting for Monday evening, September 29th, at 7:15pm and I will strive to wrap it up at 8pm.
