Troop 85
Great things are happening in our troop thanks to the help of our great scouts and families!

If you were wondering about few emails being sent out recently, it is not for a lack of activity in the troop. It is quite the opposite. We have built a new communication tool called the “BSA Troop 85” mobile app, which will soon replace our email communications on November 30. The use of the mobile app gives us messaging, troop roster, calendar and RSVP with event notifications all at your fingertips. It really is a huge help!
Since switching to our mobile app, our scouts are becoming more involved in communication, calendar planning, learning the importance of RSVP, timely responses. The scouts are now completely “in the loop” with all of our troop communication.
If you haven’t downloaded the app, please do it so you can know about the good things happening at Troop 85.

Recent Highlights:

Popcorn sales this year have increased by 200%! Thanks to our Popcorn Chair, Trena Sutton, and lots of parent volunteer help, they have organized show and sell dates and planned effective sales tactics that have allowed the boys to sell a TON of popcorn. Based off of the most recent estimates, we could be near or over $12,000 in popcorn sales for this year! That means healthy scout accounts for the boys and some much needed troop funds for activities next year!

We held a Troop 85 Recruiting Event on Oct 5. We welcomed more than a dozen visiting Webelos from area schools and our scouts showed them a great time with camping demonstrations, games, hot dogs and dutch oven cobbler. The visiting adults had the chance to meet our leadership and learn more about Troop 85. It was a fantastic night, great weather and it the parents and scouts handled everything so well!

October Campout - October 23-25 at Natural Falls State Park
Eagle Court of Honor - Final dates and plans TBD to honor Paul Dower, Wyatt Evans, and Peter Wright, our most recent Eagle Scouts!

To those we haven’t seen for a while, we miss you! 
I understand that sports, homework and other school activities can prevent attendance at meetings and campouts. Whenever time permits, please don’t hesitate to pick back up. The troop will benefit from your participation at any level. The best way to get plugged in is to download and take advantage of the Troop 85 App. We would like for you to at least know what all is going on. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about what is going on with the Troop.
