Hello, All:

As the boys are packing for the campout, please include swim suits, extra
cash to get into the pool, fishing poles and tackle, sturdy shoes for
bouldering and hiking trails, etc.

Below is a list of things that we can do:

Robbers Cave State Park

What to do Schedule

DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTY/SERVICE:

Robbers Cave State Park (one of Oklahoma's original seven parks) is located
in the scenic, hilly woodlands of the San

Bois Mountains of Southeastern Oklahoma. A favorite of rappellers, cave
explorers, equestrians, hikers, and outdoor

lovers, the cave's secluded and rugged location and general proximity to the
Texas and California Roads and the old

Butterfield Stage Line, made it an ideal outlaw hideout for many years.
Robbers Cave enjoys notoriety as a former

hideout for outlaws and has been associated with such names as the Youngers,
Frank & Jesse James, and of course

Belle Starr (who had a cabin 20 miles to the north). Today, Robbers Cave
State Park and adjoining Wildlife

Management Area offers visitors 8,246 acres of discovery and enjoyment. The
park has caves, three lakes for fishing,

a wildlife filled wilderness area for hunting or nature viewing; numerous
trails for hikers, mountain bikers, and horses;

sandstone cliffs for climbing and repelling; and a variety of other
recreational activities. The park offers camping

ranging from modern/semimodern/equestrian RV sites with hookups to regular
tent sites to primitive camping along

secluded trails. Other accommodations include a 20 room Belle Starr Lodge,
19 one bedroom cabins, 7 two bedroom

cabins, and 2 group camp facilities (these 2 camps can accommodate a total
of 410 people-both w/kitchens and dinning

halls). An amphitheater is available along with 6 other outdoor pavilions.
The park also offers two indoor community

rooms. Both rooms seat 80 people and are located next to Lake Carlton, a
swimming area and playground. Picnic tables,

comfort stations w/showers, boat ramps, a swimming beach, a swimming pool
w/bathhouse, playgrounds, a nature center

with naturalist programs and exhibits round out the park's facilities.

hours of operation and pricing or visit

their website www.robberscavestables.com

We probably won't go horseback riding, but it depends on what the patrols
want to do. If a patrol wants to do something like that, they just need to
make sure they have adults available to take them, arrange the time with the
stables, and have the cash.

As a troop, we may do the beach or swimming pool, museum, and certainly will
go up to the cave (which really isn't all that impressive).

If your boy wants to horseback ride, he needs to contact his patrol leader
and see if the patrol wants to do it as a patrol activity and start
arranging it. Let me know if you have questions.

We won't be able to climb or rappel as we won't have enough trained leaders
to be safe.

We will meet at the church at 5:30pm on Friday and try to be prepared to
leave by 6:00pm. Please be sure to bring a signed consent form if you did
not already give me one.

Let me know if you have any questions.

YIS,

Don Curry
